The Mississippi Assessment Center at the Research and Curriculum Unit (RCU) is ready to begin the item alignment and development (IAD) process for the 2016-17 academic year. The purposes of the IAD meetings are to evaluate the quality of existing MS-CPAS2 test items, create new items, and ensure proper alignment with the curriculum.

Beginning in the fall of 2013, many our curricula were revised or written to meet national standards. To align the MS-CPAS2 with the national standards, IAD participants are tasked with writing more rigorous and challenging items.

The RCU has developed an assessment training course named Assessment 101 that will be open to CTE teachers in the programs listed below. In order for teachers to be eligible for IAD selection, they must complete Assessment 101 successfully before the meeting dates. Due to our testing budget, we can only select up to five instructors from each area. Completion of the course does not guarantee selection. However, these modules will be great professional development for teachers even if they are not selected for an IAD meeting. Assessment 101 will be available Monday, November 21st for participants of the programs listed below. If you have already completed Assessment 101, you do not have to complete it again. Previous IAD selection does not mean you will be selected for this meeting. All teachers chosen for an IAD meeting will be notified by a memo when you are selected. To begin the process, please see below.

Assessment 101 Course Description
Assessment 101 will be delivered via Canvas, and the course will cover developing high-quality multiple-choice assessment items, blueprints, item structure, guidelines, and address Depth of Knowledge (DOK).
