I just wished to give everyone an update on a few items concerning professional learning courses for the rest of the spring semester.
1. If you or someone in your district needs to earn the CTE Counselor endorsement by June 30, this person needs to register ASAP for the course. It will begin on March 3. Registration ends this coming Tuesday, February 25. The course will not be offered again until the summer.
2. IHL Financial Aid and College Applications is a great course for assisting students with gaining a better understanding of preparing for life after high school and attending some kind of post-secondary or OJT training using financial aid. It earns 3 CEUs and is $60.
3. M-STAR Standard 14 Making Minutes Count and M-STAR Standard 7 Sharing Your Knowledge with Your Students begin March 17 and March 24 respectively. These are 1 CEU courses for $60 and address the M-STAR standard mentioned. If you believe you would benefit from learning more in this area, you are encouraged to enroll in one of these courses immediately.
4. Using Google Drive in Online Learning is starting March 3. This course is designed to help you better incorporate Google and its features with our Canvas Learning Management System. Registration for it ends Tuesday, February 25.
These are the last four classes we have scheduled to begin and end before CPAS testing starts in April. We did not wish to overwhelm anyone with course work while state testing was happening all around the state. So, if you need CEUs for license renewal or certification before the end of the school year, please consider these and register immediately.
Part of our summer schedule is posted now on the RCU website. The remaining courses will appear around the first full week of March or so. So, those needing to know about COOL certification, please check in March for these courses and register ASAP. They do fill quickly.https://www.rcu.msstate.edu/ProfessionalLearning/AvailableProfessionalLearning.aspx
After my last Canvas message, a few people indicated difficulty in finding my Pinterest site. There are 121 boards with 13,000+ pins on it. You can search for information that I have located on the Internet for areas from carpentry to automotive to culinary to technology and more. There is a wealth of information. Here is the link. http://www.pinterest.com/rcuonlinepd/
Do not forget to send requests for Canvas help to our Help Desk. You can reach the Help Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also call the RCU at 662-325-2510.
There have been a few messages sent regarding Quizlet and Canvas over the last few days. Please view these next two links to see if they will help you and your students with viewing the Quizlet in your Canvas course.
I am going to end today’s message here. It is my plan to send a “fun” message towards the end of next week or the first of March with more links and ideas for classrooms at that time. Please be patient until then. 😉
Have a great day and let us know if we can be of help to you!
