Friday’s Findings – March 15, 2013

This has been an exciting week for me with one of my online professional learning courses.  The maiden voyage was made for our Twitter in the Classroom course.  There is a small group of educators taking the class who are all excited about learning how to use Twitter and are beginning to post great ideas for using Twitter educationally.  One participant of the course stated, “Twitter can be used to give a ‘shout out’ to individual students who put forth extra effort in class.”  Another person said she loved the thought of using Twitter because she had “a couple of students who never speak up in class.”  They were seeing Twitter as a valuable communication tools for staying in touch with parents and reminding students of upcoming assignments.  Two comments directly related to the course and its instructional material that did my heart well are “I’m really enjoying this class…” and “This is the most I have used Twitter since signing up…I am having fun!”  When such positive input is being provided from course participants, it motivates me as an educator to continue providing material and learning myself.
