This email is coming a little earlier than normal. As you all know, I generally email the 1st of the month and around the 15th. However, this email just could not wait.
I have to say how excited I am over an article that I just read. Did I say excited? Boy, is that an understatement! Anyway, to the point – YouTube has a new feature they are adding. Quizzes!!! Check out the story at the following link. http://www.educatorstechnology.com/2012/09/add-quizzes-to-youtube-videos.html
Another website that I believe many of you will like investigating is from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC has an area of their website devoted to activities. It explains things like equipment needed, how to participate in the activity safely, and other fun and interesting information. http://www.bam.gov/sub_physicalactivity/physicalactivity_activitycards.html
One last tidbit I wish to share is about the sticky note. Now, I like sticky notes. Here is an article about using them for instruction. I wish I had thought about some of these ideas when I was still in the classroom full-time. http://www.edutopia.org/blog/sticky-note-teaching-tool-ben-johnson
Flo, our Blackboard enrollment lady, has asked that I pass the next paragraph of information on to you. Please read her message and begin preparing as needed.
It is already time to start thinking about spring batch enrollments. You may begin sending your requests for spring enrollments today. Include the same information in your batch file as indicated in the Blackboard Batch Create.pdf document located on the Blackboard My Institution tab once you are logged into Blackboard. For faster turnaround on your requests, please arrange your data exactly as indicated in the pdf document. We would prefer that you create a new course for your spring enrollments. We can create a copy of your current course and create a new spring course without enrollment information for you. This will eliminate fall and spring students’ seeing each other’s projects, etc. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
With regards to Blackboard courses, all of our COOL Essentials courses for the fall are full except for Section 7. There are still a few seats left in this section, but it will fill quickly. After this last session is filled, the next sessions will begin in the spring semester in January. Please keep an eye on the website for the dates.
I hope everyone has a great evening and weekend.
